← BackTake over & improve

Get your software under control. Give it a better future.

An important application should not leave you chasing fixes, managing uncertainty, or depending on an arrangement that no longer works. We assess the system and its responsibilities, address the agreed priorities, and establish a practical path to ongoing support and improvement.

Keep what works. Address what is holding you back.

  • 01A developer or provider is leaving, and you need continuity.
  • 02Costs continue, but useful progress is difficult to see.
  • 03Important integrations require repeated manual intervention.
  • 04The system works, but its support arrangement is too uncertain or expensive for the ongoing need.
Project rescue

A stalled project needs a credible next step.

We establish what is working, what remains unfinished, and what is preventing progress. Then we recommend a recovery path: complete the viable work, narrow the scope, repair the foundation, or replace parts that no longer make sense. You get a reasoned plan before committing to the next phase.

Understand what can be retained, what needs attention, and what a credible recovery will require—before you commit to the next phase.

How a takeover works

Understand it. Stabilize it. Establish dependable ownership.

01

Understand the business dependence.

Identify critical workflows, users, recurring problems, current costs, and who handles the work today.

Outputa shared view of what the system must support and where the arrangement is failing.

02

Map the system and its ownership.

Inventory applications, integrations, data stores, hosting, accounts, vendors, and licenses within the agreed scope.

Outputa system and responsibility map, with missing access or knowledge identified.

03

Assess condition and choose the priorities.

Review reliability, maintainability, data integrity, release practices, and relevant security controls.

Outputa prioritized plan, scope, estimated costs, and known uncertainties.

04

Stabilize the essentials.

Address agreed critical issues and establish operating practices: monitoring, backup restoration, safe releases, rollback, and support documentation.

Outputan agreed operating baseline with remaining issues explicitly recorded.

05

Transfer responsibility carefully.

Coordinate knowledge transfer and provider overlap, clarify escalation and ownership, and confirm readiness for the agreed ongoing service.

Outputa documented handover and acceptance of the defined responsibilities.

06

Maintain and improve.

Support the accepted system and work through agreed improvement priorities under the chosen arrangement.

Outputa clear support relationship and an ongoing plan for development where required.

The depth of review and remediation is agreed for the engagement. Specialist security testing, major modernization, and urgent incident response are separately scoped where needed. This process does not imply a compliance certification or a complete security audit.

Handoff to your team

Keep the system. Rethink what it takes to look after it.

An important system does not always need a full-time person or the same collection of providers to keep it moving. We assess what it needs, agree any recovery or transition work, and establish a suitable ongoing plan. The opportunity may be lower outside spending, avoiding a replacement hire, or giving the owner and team time back.

Before responsibility transfers

Assess first. Agree the ongoing commitment.

Existing systems come with history. We establish what needs attention and scope any transition or stabilization work before taking on ongoing responsibility—so the monthly plan matches what the business actually needs.

Weighing the cost

Compare the full transition cost as well as the monthly fee. The ongoing arrangement should make sense after the handover, not just look cheaper on day one.

After the takeover

Choose the right arrangement for what comes next.

FAQ

Questions

Can you work with our current developer or provider?

Yes. We can coordinate an agreed transition or divide responsibilities where continued collaboration makes sense. Access and cooperation affect what can be assessed and transferred.

Will you need to rebuild everything?

We assess that before recommending it. Retaining and improving viable systems may be the most economical approach; some situations require substantial replacement work.

Does this cover all of our IT?

The engagement covers agreed applications and related responsibilities. Device support, office networks, and other IT services are included only if explicitly part of the agreed scope.
